Experience

I began teaching in 2000 at Jackson Middle School. I taught there for one year. I came to Sweet Water in 2001. This will be my 10th year here, and I love it. I have been in 4th grade for the past 6 years. When I first came to Sweet Water, I was a remedial reading teacher for K-6. I then became a teacher of 7th and 8th grade Reading and also 9th grade computer classes. I was then transferred to 4th grade, then 3rd grade, and finally back to 4th. I am very happy in my position today.

Bio

I began teaching in 1999. I have my Masters in Education with a 7th and 8th grade add-on in Social Science. I always knew I wanted to teach, but it just never became a possibility until I had children of my own. I graduated from the University of West Alabama. This was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for me. I love children and love my job. I have taught grades ranging from kindergarten through ninth grade. Some of this time was spent teaching remedial subjects, some junior high, some intermediate grades, and now I teach fifth and sixth grade Social Studies. I taught fourth grade for 12 years. This is my my favorite place to be, at Sweet Water High School, and I couldn't be happier. I love this school system and serving you and your children. I now have 3 grandchildren of my own. Their names are Aiden-9 years old, Wesley-16 months, and  Harper-9 months.

I am an avid reader. I will read anything!! I love to do cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, hunting, and spending time with my beautiful grandchildren! I also love to watch television shows dealing with forensic science. I feel that we are learning everyday, no matter our age. I am open to new things and am excited about the opportunities that come my way in the education and technology fields!

I am privileged to work with four great teachers. Mrs. Glass, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Hill, and Coach Tucker are wonderful to work with, and we are all a part of this wonderful SWHS family. I am truly enjoying working with them and am grateful for their experience and input.
